There's been some bittersweet news from Keith Hubbard, organiser of the very popular 'Rockin at the YPC' at The Civic.
All is explained here in his latest email to Roger Blaxall at the busy QLocal Ormskirk newsdesk:
'Hi Roger,
Re: Saturday night at the Civic, the donation to Cancer Research UK will be £500, this represents the profit after expenses related to the show.
Sadly, as attendance by ex Ormskirk Young People’s Club members has dwindled away to a small number, Saturday’s gig was the last of the “Rockin’ at The YPC” events.
New events/gigs will have a wider appeal, with band/acts of different genres in the programme.
As to dates for next year, I have provisionally booked the Civic for a Cancer Research UK fundraiser under the revised title of, “Gig4Life” “Rockin’ at The Civic” to be held on Friday April 12th 2019. I have also requested Saturday 19th October for a further event, this date is awaiting confirmation.
The new Cancer Research UK “Gig4Life” North West Committees are to hold a number of events throughout the region including, after a very successful night at the venue in November last, more gigs at The Fleetwood Hesketh Sports & Social Club, Marshside, Southport, dates to be announced.
Thank you again for all your help.
Cheers,
Keith.'
