The truth behind double drug raids in Burscough is getting clearer - with no thanks to the Lancashire Constabulary PR office though.
Reporter Roger Blaxall was first tipped off last week by an Ormskirk reader who was among those who noticed a strong smell of cannabis at a house at the corner of Orrell Lane and Mart Lane.
Blaxall has since established that the house was rented by a Chinese family with Chinese folk also renting the house in quiet Glenroyd Drive which was raided by Police on Thursday.
Two separate calls to the Police PR office elicited no information about the raids; this morning he spoke to the Ormskirk landlord who gave him an update on the matter.
He confirmed that both properties were not housing students and that a large amount of drugs were being farmed there with also possible links to people trafficking. He added he did all possible checks on the families beforehand and was only suspicious when he tried to gain access and found the locks were changed - e mails were also ignored, too, he said.
His company will be releasing a full statement to QLocal soon with Blaxall also requesting an update from the Lancashire Constabulary PR office.
Police are now believed to be visiting local lettings agents to stress how important it is that regular checks are maintained on all their rented properties.
