Swathed in red hazard tape, it looks like a crime scene in the centre of Ormskirk...
In fact, some would say it was a crime that the Post Office should ever have to leave its fine sturdy building on Aughton St.
QLocal’s Roger Blaxall took these photos at tea time last night as the last post sounded for the building – but thankfully not its staff who have all moved to their new look and more compact counter operation at WHSmith.
The Post Office originally opened over 100 years ago; one of the first jobs last night after removing all the exterior signage was to discuss the safe keeping of the beautiful War Memorial which graced its walls. It’s not known if the ‘tug of love’ between staff at the town's sorting office and The Civic has been resolved.
