Slowly but surely, it looks like Ormskirk is in a state of terminal decline as another two businesses close for good.
Popular arts shop Rennies - which holds its own mini art shows in an upstairs gallery - will be shutting next month and Café Red - another town centre institution - has gone, too after 20 odd years on Burscough St.
'Frightening' is how one local shop keeper descrbned the situation as more and more student accommodation plugs the gaps at places like The Elms and the former Fat Olive now being re developed by McComb Property.
"The Council keeps saying it has one of the lowest rates of vacant shops in the area.
"No wonder. They are all filled by charity shops," was his bald assessment of how the town seems to be losing its traditional character and more and more local businesses.

Always sad to see long standing businesses closing
Let's hope they get filled quickly rather than lying empty

This is a very sad moment for the business of art because the assignment help is going in loss due to decrease in selling. Please be the voice of the people who are connected with it.
