Thursday used to be THE busiest weekday in Ormskirk ; that was when the town had a proper Lancashire market, and more importantly as an Advertiser reporter, when the paper was published.
It was no co-incidence, either - back in the seventies, any given Thursday would see the town centre crowded with market regulars and day trippers from all over west Lancashire and beyond. There were regular and reliable bus services from outlying villages and you'd always meet someone you knew in town.
The market changed a long time ago and so has the Addy, more's the pity. Now owned by Reach (the old Trinity Mirror group) it's a poor relation of the Echo and its reporting of the Ormskirk area is desultory to say the least.
So news that it's been delayed by 24 hours raises the obvious questions - did anyone notice … and does anyone care?
