Timesavers have been awarded £400 towards their running costs from the Duchy of Lancaster and also additional funding from the Community Link Foundation based in Southport.
The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund is a Registered Charity set up with the consent of Her Majesty The Queen to benefit causes primarily within the County Palatine.
Edward McCarthy said: “We wish to thank the Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth and the Community Link Foundation for their generous funding awards. We know from feedback that our work is very beneficial, and with extra funding we can carry on this good work and work towards new opportunities with our trainees.”
Timesavers aims to help overcome barriers to the employability of people with additional needs by supporting them to gain further skills and experience in all aspects of office work and computers such as use of photocopiers, printers and shredding machines together with filing and using Microsoft Office programs. We will also help them to improve their communication skills and confidence in the workplace.
People with additional needs often need extra help such as allowing them to repeat tasks and letting them to work at their own pace so it makes it easier for them to acquire new skills without feeling under stress. In order to achieve this work experience and skills training is given in a supportive environment and in this way we hope to overcome the barriers to learning which people with learning disabilities often encounter.
Timesavers arrange for qualified sessional workers to collect them from where they live, support the people whilst they are at our office, then return them home after their training/ work experience.
Three individuals from Timesavers, Jon Snead, Grace Finley and Chris Watson were awarded certificates in recognition of their voluntary service at the recent West Lancs Borough Council Volunteer Award’s Evening held in Ormskirk.
If your company/organisation can offer the Timesavers’ trainees a work placement get in touch for more details, visit www.timesavers.org.uk , call Edward on 07971 299606 or email EdwardatEMSS@gmail.com .
