This is the scene of a tragic accident involving an Edge Hill student whose death was reported yesterday by British Transport Police.

The 19-year-old - whose name has not yet been released by the authorities - was believed to be one of four friends returning home early Wednesday morning, 1 November, when he slipped and fell off the Liverpool side of the bridge on Derby Street West onto the live rail near the station.

Last night, QLocal's Roger Blaxall spoke to a BTP Sergeant who’d come from Liverpool as part of additional patrolling in the area; he confirmed that it was a tragic accident.

The emergency services attended the scene at 3am last Wednesday; yesterday a fellow student confirmed that the young man was a popular member of one of the University's football teams.

Blaxall's left calls with the Coroner’s office, the EHU student union and the EHU PR office and the story will be updated later today as more facts are released.

It's a high drop from that location. Must have been awful too for the friends.

Some student's death has been discussed here so if you know him or her then i would say that it was a real tragedy to die in such a young age would be really sad for all of us. Can we say follow this page? I guess police must be investigating the matter to learn about it.
