It looks like a move by a Rufford man to get additional dog waste bins in Rufford might have paid off...

A spokesperson for Canal & River Trust, the charity that cares for the Rufford Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, said: “We work hard to make our waterways welcoming and enjoyable places and it is disappointing when people do not dispose of their litter responsibly, creating an eyesore and a source of potential harm to wildlife.

"We encourage everyone to respect their local waterway and if they do not see a bin on their travels to take their bagged dog poo and other rubbish home with them.

"At this stretch of the Rufford Branch there is currently one bin that is maintained by the borough council.

"Our customer operations supervisor Anthony McGovern recently met Mr Critchley and a representative of the parish council on site to discuss the possibility of an additional bin and/or signage in the area, and options will now be considered in line with our budgets.”
