At 9.45 am yesterday morning, poppy wreaths were solemnly laid in memory of the fallen in a moving service at St Anne’s RC church.
Precisely 45 minutes later three giggling children were seen wearing the wreaths on their heads encouraged by a parent (or grandparent?) as they put them on no doubt for a ‘good’ FB post.
Sacrilege or just good hearted fun?
Perhaps the phrase 'is nothing sacred?' comes to mind but in an age when some louts will publicly urinate on war memorials perhaps nothing should surprise or shock us any more...
Our thanks to the lady from Burscough who approached QLocal’s Roger Blaxall with her concerns.
