A small but enthusiastic group met at Ormskirk railway station on Saturday for another of the popular War Horse walks - with town crier Don Evans in great voice to see them off and Mayor Noel Delaney accompanying them.
Due to the successful relaunch of the route in May, a second walk was organised to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.
Saturday's walk was led by local historian Andrew Beeston of Aughton and Ormskirk U3A assisted by a Borough Council park ranger - the Borough Council worked with Lathom Park Chapel, Lathom Park Trust and the U3A to organise the event.
Walkers heard the fascinating story of the war horses and the contribution they made and the route mostly followed that taken by horses that had been brought from all over the world to Ormskirk Railway Station via Liverpool Docks.
They were then walked through the streets of Ormskirk to Lathom and the Remount Depot at Lathom Park; subsequently a railway was built to transport horses directly from Liverpool Docks to the depot.
