Ormskirk and District Family History Society extend a warm welcome to anyone wishing to attend their forthcoming spring meetings.

On 28th March, Mrs. Pam Richardson will give a presentation on 'An Ormskirk Letter From The 1920s'. Inspired by a document written by a local pensioner almost one hundred years ago, the evening is sure to interest anyone who has ever wanted to step back into West Lancashire’s past.

On 25th April, Paul Sherman of North West Heritage will join the ODFHS for the evening to discuss a very topical aspect of local history, with a talk on The Viking Settlement of West Lancashire. If you know of any Norse surnames in your family, perhaps the April meeting will inspire you to explore further?

On 23rd May, the Society will host its Annual Meeting. As is traditional, the formal business of the evening will be followed by a short talk, and this year’s speaker is ODFHS Magazine Editor Kate Hurst, who will discuss her experience of carrying out background research for an episode of the BBC series Who Do You Think You Are?

Everyone with an interest in family and local history is welcome to attend any Ormskirk and District Family History Society meeting; talks begin at 8p.m. and are held at the Guide HQ on Moorgate, Ormskirk. Visitors are requested to make a £1 donation, and keen researchers may like to note that the Society’s membership year begins in early April.
