Green fingered Aughton gardeners got their just desserts on Saturday at the annual Best Kept Garden Awards for the parish.
Alan Foxall of Southport Botanic Gardens did the honours at the Village Hall following a brief introduction by Margaret Boulton of the PC who was his host - and driver - for the secret judging in summer.
And Alan gave some valuable tips on how to look after a garden all year round before presenting the prizes.
Those worthy 2017 winners were: Overall Winner, Awarded The Challenge Trophy, 1 Back Lane
Winner - Large/Medium Garden Class, Awarded The Thompson Trophy, 18 St Michaels Park
Runner-up Large/Medium Garden Class, 70 Swanpool Lane
Winner - Small Garden Class, Awarded The Lythgoe Trophy, 57 Delph Park Avenue
Runner-up Small Garden Class, 4 The Grove
Winner - Miniature Garden Class, Awarded The Peers Trophy, 70 Noel Gate
Winner - the Rose Bowl, 4 Holt Coppice
Winner - Best Kept Lawn, Awarded The Millennium Trophy, 20 Belvedere Park
Winner - Best Display of Tubs and Hanging Baskets, Awarded The Centenary Trophy, 7 Back Lane
Winner - Commercial Section, Awarded the Vanda Naylor Trophy, The Dog & Gun Inn
