Police are appealing for witnesses after a three vehicle collision on the M6 last night (31st July).
It happened on the southbound carriageway close to Junction 32 at around 6:15pm.
The collision involved a Ford Transit, Nissan Note and Seat Leon X.
The driver of the Ford Transit – a man in his 50s, suffered a serious injury to his chest.
The driver of the Nissan Note, a woman in her 50s, was injured, as was an 18-year-old male passenger. Both are currently in a critical condition at hospital; the driver of the Seat Leon was uninjured.
The southbound carriageway was closed for around four hours while emergency services attended.
Police are appealing for information and are keen to trace anyone with dashboard mounted camera footage of the incident.
Sergeant Steve Hardman of Lancashire’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We’re working to establish exactly what happened and are appealing to anyone who saw the collision to speak to us.
“We know the motorway was extremely busy at the time due to an earlier collision on the opposite carriageway. If you have any information, or relevant dash cam footage, please let us know.”
