There were no league matches in the Ormskirk & District Pool League last week as Wednesday 10th October was reserved for the first round of the singles.

With 121 entrants to the singles competition this season it would be too difficult to try to report every result here, but last year’s singles champion David Taylor received a bye while his opponent in the final Steve Riley made it safely through with a victory over Jason Ken.

I was at the 22 Club and it was great to witness the enthusiasm of players as they fought to make it through to the next round, commiserations to those who didn’t make it through.

I have spent some time creating trophy boards on our league website poolleaguesuk.com, they look quite impressive, two examples are below - I will post more trophy boards in later updates.

We have received interest in joining our league from a local club who are just about to invest in a pool table. Although they will need to wait until next season it's great to see that clubs and pubs are starting to reintroduce pool tables.

If you are interested in playing pool why not try to form a team, if your pub/club don’t have one - try to encourage them to get one! If not why not approach one of the locations that already have a team(s), they may be looking for new players or they may let you set up a new team there ... it’s really good for business.

It's back to the league this week, but we do finally have the missing result from 3rd October, despite suffering a 4 – 3 reversal at La Cantina B, Stanley Club moved into 5th place with the 3 points they gained.
