What next?

That's the question on the lips of staff who've all lost their jobs at Ormskirk's Poundworld and are now looking for work - and it's also the question about which company will fill the empty unit vacated after the firm went bust.

Staff won't be cleaning up financially after the closure, each receiving under £1000 or so; the Ormskirk branch on the busy Hattersley Retail Park is the last one to close in west Lancashire with around eight staff made redundant.

And QLocal's busy Ormskirk reporter Roger Blaxall understands that Halfords has already turned down the chance to expand there.

I'm not surprised that this store has closed. Every time I went in, there was never any member of staff at the till, they were usually all huddled together in the aisle chatting.

Or as my mum used to say 'standing round like one of Woolworths' ....
