He might never have graced the rugby field but Peter Harrison was held in very high regard by all who knew him at Ormskirk RUFC.

And the club Bar Steward's sudden death last week led to this tribute from Brian Stevenson, club chairman, on its FB page:

'Dear members,

It is with deep regret that I must inform you that our Bar Steward, Peter Harrison, passed away in the during the night of Tuesday 7th August 2018. Peter has been a loyal and dedicated club servant for over 7 years, taking on the running of our bar and Clubhouse.

Peter was a likeable character and befriended many, many club members, players and supporters during his time with us and will be dearly missed as a Club man, and as a friend.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

Peter was well known in and around town where he'd be often seen riding his bike to and from his Small Lane home. One close friend was in tears last week as she told QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall of his untimely death having only seen him at her home a few days previously.
