hi,
Your vegetable dish is a tureen.
let us follow the information we have.
ON LOOKING AT THE PHOTO
the item is definitely ENGLISH AND MADE IN THE MID TO LATER PART OF THE 19th century
Called the VICTORIAN PERIOD 1840 to 1900
your item is c1850/80
There is no trading company under the name Nightingale.
It is the name of a pattern
THE IMPRESSED DIAMOND MARK IS THE ROAD TO GO DOWN.
After deciphering the letters in the code, (light in photo not so good) 3rd or the 8th day September 1850. or posibly 1876
If you bring in the item to the shop, probably able to tell you the day it was made.
patents where taken out in september 1850 by
the following companies
Thomas Till
J & M P bell and co
J Ridgeway
w t Copeland
Mellor Venables & Co.
Minton & Co.
Ridgway is by far the best bet
andTill and Minton look also a good bets,
nice item.
a complete set would have a high ticket price in the USA
but an odd dish in the UK under £30
