A mild mannered landowner's battle with residents of an exclusive Aughton estate's carrying on regardless after plastic chain link fencing installed recently has been ripped open.
Ormskirk's Ian Mercer of NW Turf Supplies on Mickering Lane's been trying to stop people accessing the public footpath running adjacent to his land via the Belvedere Park play area.
Here's the original e-mail describing the situation received at the busy QLocal news desk in March: 'Almost overnight, after decades of access from the footpath to the playground and playing fields, a Trumpesque fence was constructed and access was no longer available.
This means that people and particularly the children who live to the east of the fence are excluded from access to the playground, the playing fields, the dog poo bin and their neighbours and friends on Belvedere Park without going on a major detour.
Residents who have lived on Mickering Lane since the construction of Belvedere Park say that there was an agreement that access would be allowed.
The council have been contacted and are investigating. Their initial findings indicate that the landowner has built it to prevent people from accessing his land.'
QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall took these exclusive photos on Monday evening.
