A controversial take on the recent platinum jubilee with this reader's letter from Ormskirk's Billy McCurrie:
To the editor:
The Platinum jubilee celebrations are over; nationally millions across the country joined in the parties and pageants singing the praises of Queen Elizabeth II’s long and many would say successful reign.
Conservative Peer Michael Farmer commented on 'The Queen's sense of duty deriving from her faith in Christ', and talked about 'her reliance on Jesus her Saviour and God.'
How can the validity of Michael Farmer’s and HM The Queen's comments about her faith be measured? Only against the Bible - and some of the most sobering and frightening words of Jesus were uttered on The Sermon on The Mount: 'Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.' (Matt.7:21)
It’s God’s will that we obey His word and a Christian, a follower of Jesus will seek to do that. Yet we find The Queen has not only broken her coronation oath to defend the Protestant reformed faith, but she has defied God’s word. In the late 60’s she signed into law the abortion act in flagrant breach of God’s command not to murder; through this act she has managed to slaughter more innocents than Hitler ever put to death in the gas chambers.
Along with the damnable abortion act she signed into law the legalisation of homosexuality a practice that God calls abominable. Someone who swore on oath to defend the Protestant reformed faith and professes to follow Christ would never have signed into law such vile acts - 'Not everyone who says to Me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of My Father.'
It's God’s will that we remember one day in seven, known as The Sabbath Day or The Lord's Day. Yet under The Sunday Trading Act in 1994 The Queen signed into law legislation that opened floodgates eroding the sanctity of The Lord's Day.
In recent years - in an atrocious disregard of God’s creation ordinance that marriage can only be between one man and one woman - The Queen signed an Act of Parliament allowing marriage between people of the same sex.
A follower of Jesus would never have done this or any of the other examples outlined above preferring instead to abdicate rather than disobey God and violate her coronation oath; this would have resulted in an unprecedented constitutional crisis but in doing so the seriousness of these acts in putting the nation against God and therefore incurring God’s wrath would have unmistakably been brought to the fore.
Some may argue none of this is The Queen’s doing but Parliament's but as she reminds us with each opening of Parliament it is her Parliament and her ministers. And the possible plea that she was just following advice will hold no more water before God’s throne of judgement than the pathetic pleas of Nazi’s at Nuremburg...
The Jubilee celebrations should’ve been marked by The Queen repenting of her wickedness and calling the nation to repentance before God; until that happens the nation will remain under God’s wrath and judgement.

[QUOTE=rogerblaxall;6819761]A controversial take on the recent platinum jubilee with this reader's letter from Ormskirk's Billy McCurrie:
How interesting. The Queen is "Titula", without authority, isn't she? She has influence but no power, her role being symbolic by signing Acts of Parliament put before her. Magna Carta limited Royal power, ultimately leading to Parliament and the Bill of Rights? She is Head of State, the Prime Minister is Head of Elected Government. It's politicians who are to blame for what Mr McCurrie complains of, isn't it?
