News from Borough rangers: 'We have an algal bloom in the pond at Coronation Park.
These are usually caused by high levels of nitrogen and phosphorous in the water and a lack of water movement.
Ranger Ann Faulkner came to the rescue and waded into the water with her nets of barley straw which you might spot dotted about the outside of the island! It's traditionally used to treat algal blooms as it in known to inhibit algal growth.
Make sure to keep dogs (and people!) out of the water - algal blooms can be toxic.'
