Ormskirk's Sound Affects was busy over the summer holidays playing host to a series of Summer band camps, designed to give young musicians the skills to learn, write, rehearse and record their own song over the course of a week.
It seems once again, it's had a huge success with many young musicians coming away from the week and signing on to their new band programmme at its New Court Way studio.
Throughout the camps, each musician was gifted with a music syllabus, written by lead band mentor Ed Cuss, with everything they needed to know about the different elements of music from rhythm to dynamics, harmony to structure and so on.
Students participated in master classes, talks, demonstrations and interactive learning and games to equip them with the skills they needed to write a piece of music; they rehearsed each day within their group, guided by a band mentor to prepare them for two days recording in Sound Affects professional studio.
Along the way, they also learnt about how a recording studio works and were given a hands-on insight into the mixing and mastering process of a record. The camp was not only educational, but a fantastic experience for young musicians to work alongside like-minded others and expand on their musical talents to create a piece they were really proud of.
