A major refurbishment project is underway of 80 year old student accommodation in the main halls at Edge Hill University.
Modernisation work has started in Stanley and Clough halls, in the east wing of the building, which includes the provision of accommodation with en-suite facilities, development of a new shared kitchen/common area, in a similar style to recent accommodation developments such as Woodland Court, and the removal of shared toilet blocks and bathrooms.
Nearly 100 bedrooms will be upgraded, the first refurbishment since the building’s development in the 1930s, other than enhancements to meet fire safety regulations.
Refurbishment will see bedrooms converted into six, seven and 11-clusters. The work is due to be completed ready for the new intake of students in September.
The cost is yet to be revealed.
