"You're in!"
Two words from Bishop Beverley, Bishop of Warrington to the new Vicar of Aughton Christ Church marked the end of a celebratory afternoon on Sunday.
Sarah O'Donoghue is now the church's first female vicar following the retirement last year of Rev Ross Moughtin; she had served as his curate there.
And to celebrate her installation, the church was packed for Sunday afternoon's service with family, friends and the congregation all welcoming her. It ended with a joyful rendition of 'Be thou my vision' before Sarah and her husband Cian and children Lydia and Samel met the congregation and then enjoyed refreshments in the Ministry Centre.
The O'Donoghues will be moving to the Long Lane vicarage soon; aptly her first Consider church magazine article is entitled 'A time of new beginnings' not only reflecting on the wonderful Easter story but also touching on her appointment.
