Local politicians and not a few residents gave the County Council grief over its hesitance in reopening recycling centres like the one at Abbey Lane, Burscough.
But LCC workers there yesterday - when it reopened after weeks of Covid closure - were quick to praise the authority for its stance.
"I lost two friends to Covid and think the County Council was right to be cautious and follow Government guidelines. They did the best thing in considering us front line workers," one lady told QLocal's Roger Blaxall.
There was a no queuing yesterday morning with people having to book slots via the LCC website. A security guard from Manchester was in duty, too, but the mood was understanding and good humoured - the only incident of note was a large paint container which had fallen off a trailer covering a road sign with white paint.
Queues at the facility in Southport saw folk wait up to 90 minutes to access the tip on Foul Lane earlier this week with traffic management measures in place at the busy Kew roundabout.
