It's situated in one of the prettiest parts of west Lancashire - but there was nothing 'pretty' about the latest CQC inspection of Silver Birch Lodge at Holt Green.
And its February inspection - released a few days ago - has precipitated some drastic action from owners the Parr family who have decided to close the home.
A CQC spokesman told QLocal yesterday afternoon: “The overall rating for this service is inadequate and the service is therefore in special measures.
"Services in special measures will be kept under review and, if we have not taken immediate action to propose to cancel the provider's registration of the service, will be inspected again within six months.
"The expectation is that providers found to have been providing inadequate care should have made significant improvements within this timeframe.”

Worryingly, it's thought a number of staff are still owed wages; in the meantime arrangements are being made to move residents to alternative accommodation in local care homes. Pictured in Joan Parr, owner of the home.
