It opened three and a half years ago as a new flagship store for Poundstretcher.

But now the writing's on the wall for the discount superstore - and its imminent closure will be another nail in the coffin of a once busy Church St.

Mayor Nikki Hennessy opened the new look store in the former Tesco Metro in 2015 (pictured) - last week signs announcing its closure were posted in its window.

Staff are still awaiting their fate: there has been no little controversy about landlord Louis Stockton's plans for the old Regal cinema which was taken over by Tesco in the sixties.
