After two years of disruption caused by Covid, clay target shooting is finally getting back to normal with Aughton's Graham Welsh among the medals again.
He recently regained a title which he won in 2019, winning the Gold Medal in the veterans class at the 2022 'World All Round Championships' held in Wales; three weeks before that, he travelled to York for the Northern Counties Championships and also won the title of 'Lancashire All Round Champion 2022'.
The 73-year-old started shooting competitively in 1976 and has been the Lancashire Champion and the North of England Regional Champion in various clay shooting disciplines for the last 30 years. He has shot for Lancashire on a number of occasions and he was a member of the victorious England Teams that won the Home International Tournaments shooting Olympic Skeet in 2001 and 2002.
He said: "In spite of the recent Covid enforced lay-of, it was great to get back into competition shooting and I'm really pleased to have won these two titles.
"It is also very satisfying to have finished joint 5th overall out of a field of 85 shooters at a world ranking event."
