From local police FB pages:
Earlier this week, Neighbourhood officers teamed up with a team from Trading Standards to carry out inspections of two shops, one in Ormskirk and one in Skelmersdale.
The inspection was carried out due to intelligence received about them selling counterfeit/illegal cigarettes, as well as E-cigarettes that breach the current regulations surrounding them.
Combined, 555 E-cigarettes and 311 illegal/counterfeit cigarettes were seized.
The offences committed include: Trade Marks Act 1995 for the counterfeits, the Standardised Packaging of Tobacco Products Regulations 2015 for the improperly labelled tobacco products, and the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 for the improperly labelled e-liquids.
Trading Standards will be dealing further with the managers of these two shops.
E-cigarettes should have no more that 600 puffs. All cigarette packaging should be plain packaging and stored behind the counter.
We are aware of the huge concern around children using vapes/E-cigs and we will continue to work with Trading Standards to identify any other shops that choose to ignore the rules.
The manager of the Ormskirk shop - 'Ormskirk Super Store' on Aughton St. - today confirmed Police and Trading Standards had visited the premises.

When are the council and Trading Standards going to pull their act together and shut this place down? This is the second time now they've been caught by the authorities selling counterfeit cigarettes, after also previously selling cigarettes and vaping products to underage kids. No matter how much the council gets in business rates from this place, this 'business' (if you can call it that...) have had enough chances to get their act together. Close it down!

They clearly cannot be trusted to run this shop correctly and within the law, they have proven this over and over again, should be closed down. Enough chances given, it’s not like it is an asset to the town centre.
