Every picture told a story this weekend at the latest 'Images of Burscough' event.
According to organiser Michael Dawson, around 800 folk attended the event at the Stanley Club making it a great success.
Yesterday, he told QLocal: "After another great exhibition weekend, I would just like to say a big thank you to all of the following: Ormskirk & District Family History Society (Kate Hurst, Pam Richardson, Andrew Scarisbrick & team), Lathom & Burscough Military History Society (Richard Houghton), Paul Smith of the Ormskirk Museum, and Alan James Barrow with his Airmen of West Lancashire Roll of Honour WW2.
"All of you make the exhibition what it is, so thank you for your constant support.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Terry Aldridge and Cllr Noel Delaney along with Jeannie Pritchard and members of Martyn Snape's family opened the exhibition.
Added Michael: "Behind the scenes I would be lost without the help of many people around me... Lawrence Critchley, Debra Baldwin, Chris Ryley, Alan Birch, Margaret Birch, Susan Parker, Mildred Ashcroft, Cath, Pauline, Summer & Alex and everybody that donated prizes for the raffle and The Stanley Club.
"But mostly I would like to thank all the people who visited the exhibition over the weekend, and to all the people who brought photos for me to copy.
"I really hope you enjoyed it all.
"Saturday was a little quieter, but Sunday was incredibly busy!
"It was great to see so many people attend the exhibition and wonderful to see folk just talking to one another and great to see younger members of our community looking for the 'hidden' books and decorated rocks while eating a gingerbread man!
"Until next time..."
Michael's pictured with Martyn’s family members, and he and Debra are seen with Queenscourt Hospice shop staff in Burscough Village.
*The exhibition was dedicated to Martyn Snape, former freelance photographer who died in summer and yesterday Michael donated £260 to the Queenscourt shop in Burscough along with twenty calendars for them to sell in Martyn's name, making a grand total of £400. Michael's also donating £100 to the Well-Being group run by Cynthia Dereli on a Wednesday afternoon (2-4pm) at the Grove. The £260 is made up of a £200 donation from Images of Burscough, £40 from the sale 8 copies of ‘Rufford – Its Past and its People’ donated by author Joan Rimmer and two £10 donations over the weekend from Chris Ryley and Paul Smith, both involved in the exhibition.
