There's good news for Ormskirk folk as the town's police station re-opens again soon.

The reason - Skelmersdale Police Station is to temporarily close for major refurbishment; due to its age and condition - police bosses say it's no longer fit for purpose and as such is being upgraded and modernised from the start of June 2019.

It's seen a flurry of activity to ready Ormskirk nick for action on Thursday 18 April with a new fire exit constructed on Burscough Road and a general tidy up of the site after it closed full time last year.

    Skem. police station will be
closed for approximately 12-18 months, while work is being carried out and the majority of staff and equipment will temporarily relocate to Ormskirk.

There will, however, remain a police presence in Skelmersdale with members of Response and Neighbourhood teams being based at the fire station on Tanhouse Road, although this will not be open to the public.

CI Jill Halliwell told QLocal: "The work being carried out is essential maintenance, due to the age and construction of the building.

"We are committed to investing in the police station at Skelmersdale, to make it an improved working environment for officers and staff and a better facility for the community, which is desperately needed.”

The front desk at Skelmersdale will close at 4pm on Wednesday 17 April with the Ormkskirk front desk opening on Thursday 18 April at 9am; the Ormskirk front counter will then be open to members of the public Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am – 6pm.

Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner added: "This is really positive for Skelmersdale and the wider community, with investment necessary to ensure that the station is fully fit for purpose going forward.

"Residents should be reassured that the temporary closure during this time will not in any way impact on the policing service for those who live and work in the town, with neighbourhood policing teams still visible out in the community."

Members of the Neighbourhood Team will be in the P.U.L.S.E. Centre which is located in the Concourse, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10:30am and 12:00pm, from Wednesday 24 April, where members of the public can drop in and have the chance to speak with the team about local issues.

And members of the public can still report crimes or incidents via http://lancashire.police.uk/reportonline or 101 for non-emergency and 999 for emergencies only.

They close the young people in a room where the cried and yelled for a huge timeframe. Click here passive sentence to read more ideas. In fact, I got early that day and was amazingly stunned to see that. On the off chance that its no different to you instruct your kids at home until the second that they are of reasonable age since this planning structure is shocking and upsetting to the kids. Much esteemed.
