An annual October campaign by Good Things Foundation is coming to West Lancashire.

Get Online Week helps people access the internet and develop new skills, such as staying safe, making contact with friends and family, or shopping or banking online.

As part of Get Online Week 2019, West Lancashire Borough Council and West Lancs CVS are running two events.

The first on Monday 14 October from 11am-1pm, will be a conversation café at the new Artz Centre space in Up Holland (formerly Up Holland Library).

The second is on Wednesday 16 October from 10am to 12pm at the Burscough Hub, a computer access drop-in at Burscough Methodist Church.

Everyone is welcome to attend and have a brew and a chat about going online – whether you are new to the internet, or comfortable with going online but would like to develop further, you're invited to come along.

In Skelmersdale, Citizens Advice Lancashire - Digital Help Centre, in the Concourse, has a Get Online Challenge around online safety on Wednesday 16 October from 9am to 1pm. The Twirlies computer support group meets every Tuesday from 10am-midday at the Ecumenical Centre and is also celebrating Get Online Week on Tuesday 15 October.

The events are part of a wider project, Buzz IT, with West LancashireBorough Council, West Lancashire Council for Voluntary Service and Citizens Advice Lancashire.

Councillor Ian Moran, Leader of West Lancashire Borough Council, said: "Getting more people making the best possible use of the internet is a key priority for the Council and we are delighted to be organising these events with West Lancs CVS."
