The Rainbow House New York Ball held at The Villa, Wrea Green last month raised over £50,000 for the Mawdesley based charity supporting children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.
After being welcomed by the New York Showgirls and entertained by Will Pike during the drinks reception, 200 guests sat down to a three course dinner with entertainment by Dance with Passion.
After dinner the highlight of the evening, Soul Story, a fabulous group from America, delighted the audience before everyone took to the floor to dance the night away.
During the evening Rainbow House launched a new DVD, made by Sam Budd, which captures the work they do and the benefits to the children, young people and their families who use the services provided at Rainbow House.
An auction also took place with some fantastic prizes including a Preston North End executive box for ten people; a couture hair cut by celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford at his home in London, a money cannot buy skincare package with Sharon Hilditch MBE at Crystal Clear in Liverpool and a beautiful piece of artwork made by the children at Rainbow House proved extremely popular, while one lucky guest, Helen Speirs from South Wales won a necklace, ring and earrings in the Diamond Draw.
Prizes in an interactive silent auction, where guests could bid on iPads on the tables, included pantomime tickets, football packages and signed shirts, children’s toys, hotel and glamping packages and a three day fitness retreat.
The event was supported by Ward and Burke and Preston North End; Ward and Burke said: “‘Rainbow House deliver outstanding services to the local community and we are honoured to be in support of this charity for a third year. It’s an organisation we hold dearly.”
And Preston North End added: “PNE is proud to continue its association with Rainbow House.
We were delighted to support this fantastic evening and we know that the incredible amount raised will continue to help these children who desperately need our support.”
Ben Blackman, Chief Executive, Rainbow House told QLocal: "Our thanks go to Ward & Burke and Preston North End for their fantastic support and to Nicola Parkinson for organising the event, together with the entertainers, photographer Gareth Edwards, Ambrose Hire, Barclays, Santander and everyone who has donated prizes and their time to make the evening so successful but especially to all the guests for helping raise such a fantastic amount.”
