They can be an absolute pain - but Ormskirk seems to be free at the moment from well meaning Jehovah Witnesses calling at the door.
Unless you know the Bible really well, they can persuade you to show an interest in their cult but at least one Aughton church has been doing something about preparing Christians on what to say when they come a' knocking.
Former JW Tony Brown (left) spoke at a recent open evening at Aughton Park Baptist Church with around 40 folk hearing how to - lovingly - put them right. Church Pastor Billy McCurrie has been trying to engage with a group of them in Ormskirk who simply stand there handing out literature like The Watchtower - with little success; many try to avoid him when he asks searching questions about their faulty theology.
And last night a new comedy series took a bow on R4 about the experiences of a former JW which gave a sad insight into her former life: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05r3srd

As with all religions it’s all about control and money.
