Folk who attended Emmanuel Church on Friday evening were treated to a feast of harmony singing by two local choirs.

The Aughton Male Voice Choir, a well established group of singers under the direction of Andrew Lord and accompanied by Joanne Fairclough, performed a selection of pieces from their 'stage and screen' repertoire. They also took the opportunity to premiere a four-part arrangement of the song, "Kiss from a Rose" that featured in the film "Batman Forever".

And the male voices were ably supported by a guest appearance from the mixed voices of the Aughton and Ormskirk u3a Choir who performed numbers from a range of composers diverse enough to include Bob Dylan and John Rutter.

Their musical director, Paul Dickie, was one of the three gentlemen present who provide a link between the two choirs through their membership of both.

Members of the Emmanuel Church kindly provided welcome refreshments to complete an evening that truly reflected the uplifting gift that music brings to all our lives.
