Ironic but true - I was almost knocked over yesterday evening by a car on Ormskirk's new cycle lane...

I'd popped down to St Helens Road on the way to Aughton parish council to take some photos of the new lanes which were supposed to open yesterday but have obviously been delayed.

Taking one of my last photos of the Ormskirk bound lane, I was suddenly aware of an approaching car, and jumped out of the way of a black Lexus. Its confused middle aged lady driver clearly hadn't appreciated the new layout and had to slowly reverse into moving traffic onto Park Road.

While I was there I didn't see any cyclists using the new lanes which have cost some £250,000.

So let me get this straight Roger - you stand in the middle of the road taking photos and you're surprised you nearly get run over, and then post a 'news' story about it?

Possibly you could explain why the painted cycle symbol would appear upside down to the car driver? Sat in your ivory tower or steeple, scanning Q local for any miniscule snippet to unleash your intellectual wrath upon really must have you reaching for the tissues. One can only wonder why somebody who regards themselves as so superior bothers to visit this site. Not only do you imply wrong doing by the reporter but you also attack commenters as well. Not content with disagreeing with their opinion you choose to attack their use of grammar and spelling, not pausing to consider that they may be dyslexic. Ironic that you chose a title for yourself that relates to a Christian building in the town.
