If you like to draw and paint, take photographs, make prints or sculptures, this is your opportunity to exhibit your work in a professional art gallery by taking part in the popular Lancashire Open Exhibition 2019.
Amateur and professional artists alike have chance to exhibit at Chapel Gallery so, even if you’ve never exhibited in an art gallery before, this is an excellent opportunity to get your work seen by the general public.
You can submit your entry online at chapelgallery.org.uk/open-2019/ by the deadline of Monday 1 July, 9am, or you can make your submission in person, with your completed Entry Form, on Friday 5 or Saturday 6 July, 10am – 4.30pm.
Entry Forms are now available so you can download your copy from chapelgallery.org.uk/open-2019/ or contact the Chapel Gallery staff to request a hard copy. If selected, your work will be exhibited at Ormskirk's prestigious gallery from 20 July to 4 September 2019.
This is an annual exhibition that is different each year. There’s a diverse array of artworks on display and a different panel of guest judges presiding over each selection. So, even if you've never exhibited your work before, this is a great introduction to the process, as each Lancashire Open Exhibition includes work from most disciplines and is open to anyone to enter.
The first prize is £800, with a second prize of £400 and £200 for third place. Commendations are also awarded along with the prestigious Peoples’ Prize, voted by visitors to the gallery.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, West Lancashire Borough Council portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “Anyone can put their works forward for the wonderful Lancashire Open Exhibition. So if you are an artist get your entry form now for the chance to have your work in the exhibition.”
Applicants must be 18 years old or over and can submit two original pieces of artwork to be viewed by the selection panel. All media entered will be considered, from drawing, painting, printmaking and three-dimensional work to photography, sculpture and textiles.
Whilst it is easiest to fill in your entry form online you can also call the gallery on 01695 571328 for an emailed version or pop into the gallery, in St Helens Road, Ormskirk, which is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
