The Lathom Park Remount Depot memorial has been officially dedicated to the men and horses who were there during WW1.
Yesterday morning, The Rt Rev. James Newcome, Bishop of Carlisle, Chaplain to HM The Queen and descendant of the Earls of Lathom, performed the dedication.
The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Mr Martin Ainscough was among the guests, along with Chairman of Lancashire County Council, Councillor Paul Rigby and Mr Howard Whitaker, cousin to The Bishop and President of Lathom Park Trust and local mayor, Gaynar Owen.
Lt Col Martyn Thompson, MBE, Commanding Officer of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, Melton Mowbray and Captain Betts of the Corps were special guests of Lathom Park Trust.
Skelmersdale Veterans Association were outstanding in their support wearing vintage Army combat dress.
