Aughton made it two wins out of two after overcoming a spirited Skelmersdale outfit.
Losing the toss, captain Barnes was asked to field; using all of his experience and intuition the new ball was given to Carbery and 58 year old Taylor and it didn’t fail.
Skelmersdale fell to 21/7. Carbery in the form of his life while at the other end Taylor a true ‘Skemmer’ destroyed his hometown cricket team with excellent medium pace bowling.
A gutsy 29 from Phil Wright helped Skelmersdale recover before the combination of Waterhouse and Stephens, Liverpool Competition legends in their own right, dismissed him with Stephens taking a fine catch at slip.
And with some fine bowling and excellent fielding, notably from Ravenscroft and Fletcher, Skelmersdale were dismissed for a paltry 43.
With only 44 needed to win the game Aughton started poorly again. Harnick was clean bowled by the superb Abbie Wright and Parkinson departing without troubling the scorers.
Carbery soon departed for a golden duck, but fortunately the two Liverpool Competition legends, Waterhouse and Stephens, held their nerve and saw Aughton over the line.
A five wicket victory and credit to captain, leader and a fine example to all who play, Barnes for getting Aughton over the line with his fine decision making and attention to detail.
