Do you think your voluntary group deserves an award?

Then come to a special event to find out more about the Queens Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS).

West Lancashire Borough Council and West Lancs CVS are inviting voluntary groups to hear about the awards which are the highest given to voluntary groups in the UK.

Following great success recently in East Lancashire, the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth is keen to increase nominations from West Lancashire.
The Council and CVS are both supporting this to happen.

They have arranged this event at Evermoor Community Centre, Birleywood, Skelmersdale, on Wednesday 14 August to encourage nominations featuring the Borough's volunteering groups. The session will begin at 10am with light refreshments.

Organisers are delighted to have Mr Tony Grimshaw OBE, from the Lancashire panel for the QAVS, coming to talk about the awards. He will explain how they can showcase the amazing work of West Lancashire's voluntary sector and guide groups through the benefits and criteria for being nominated for the award. CVS officers will provide practical advice and support about completing nomination forms.

More details on QAVS can be found on the following link:https://www.gov.uk/queens-award-for-voluntary-service.

Councillor Ian Moran, Leader of West Lancashire Borough Council, said: "Don’t miss your chance to hear about this exciting opportunity and help to celebrate and promote the great work that is taking place across West Lancashire."

Please confirm your attendance tovicky@wlcvs.org no later than Friday 9 August, also please indicate whether you have any special requirements.
