Congratulations to the West Lancs. MG Owners Club that's recently celebrated 40 years 'on the road'!
Now based at Briars Hall, Lathom, its 40th was this October; initially formed as Southport MG Owners in 1979, it met at The Richmond in Scarisbrick Road with just five members.
Since then, it's gone from strength to strength and now boasts 90 members from all over the local area.
They continue to meet every month on the 3rd Tuesday at Briars Hall, with their main activities being to drive in a variety of cherished MG cars as well as raising money for their favourite charities.
Some 50 club members celebrated the club's 40th Anniversary last night, 17th October, with a special Hot Pot supper at Briars Hall.
Chairman Ralph Greenhalgh read out a brief history of its 40 years and cut the special cake made by club member Joe Grindley.
This was followed by the awards presentations - firstly the shields and trophies awarded to Pride of Ownership winners from June's competition, followed by awards to the Club Supporter of the year, which went to David Graham.
Dave Grant-Wilkie, treasurer, was awarded the Dargan Trophy for his first 3 years of hard work in that position, and finally a Lifetime Membership Award was presented to Nigel Malyan, who recently stepped down from the committee after his 14 years as club chairman.
The club continues to meet over winter with the next meeting being on Tuesday November 19
th at Briars Hall at 8pm.
