A new support group is being launched next week to help anyone affected by cancer across west Lancashire.
The Macmillan Aughton Cancer Support Group is aimed atanyone affected by cancer, either directly or as a carer, colleague, family member or friend, in Aughton, Ormskirk and the surrounding area.
It's holding its first meeting on Friday, 12th July, from 9.30am to 11.30am, at Christ Church Ministry Centre, Long Lane, Aughton, and will then meet at Christ Church on the second Friday of every month.
Macmillan’s Information and Support Service in West Lancashire is setting up the support group after hosting an open day in Aughton earlier this year, which was attended by more than 60 local people seeking support.
Jodie Taylor, Macmillan’s Information and Support Service Assistant in West Lancashire, said:“Sometimes, it can be difficult living with a cancer diagnosis or knowing someone who has. Many people often have questions about finances, grants, travel, diet, exercise or they simply just need someone to talk to either as a group or one-to-one with the Macmillan team.
“At Macmillan we know how a diagnosis can affect everything in someone’s life. We identified a need for support within Aughton and the surrounding area and are setting up the group to let local people know about the local services and support that is available to them. We also want people to know that whatever cancer throws their way, we’re right there for them.”
