Aughton's Granville Park war memorial has had a timely clean-up in preparation for Remembrance Sunday.
The work was undertaken by Scarisbrick's Specialist UK Restorations (https://www.specialistukrestorations.com/) on behalf of Aughton Parish Council; the First World War memorial, with WW2 additions, in the Garden of Remembrance at Granville Park is a Grade II listed structure.
It was unveiled on February 11 1922 by the 17th Earl of Derby; rededicated on October 16 1948; and restored and rededicated in 2001.
Specialist UK Restorations told QLocal: “As both of our directors live in Aughton we offered to carry out these works free of charge. The company wanted to give something back to the local community.”
PC chair Graham Jones is pictured with fellow parish councillors after the clean up work was unveiled.
