A 30-year-old man's recovering in hospital after a failed suicide bid on Friday night in Lathom.
Police and ambulance staff attended quiet Hall Lane after a member of the public spotted a silver Astra hatchback parked in the lay by near Lathom Chapel for over two hours in the early evening.
Her suspicions about something amiss were proved true, sadly; ambulance staff found the man, who'd written two suicide notes to his partner and young children and had a large amount of strong painkillers, still alive.
He was taken to Southport hospital where he is now recovering.
