This is the aftermath of a mid morning accident at what one police officer called 'one of the most dangerous junctions in Lancashire.'
Fortunately, there were no pedestrians nearby after a man lost control of his E class Merc. and ploughed into the railings at the corner of Halsall Lane; students living at 2, Halsall Lane told QLocal's Roger Blaxall that the car was dragged back onto the road with police closing the busy junction which led to long tailbacks in each direction.
It's not known if he jumped a red light; as is commonplace after any accident, the driver was drink and drug tested.
It looks as though speed was a significant factor in the smash although it's not clear if the driver lost control while turning towards either Southport Road, County Road or Halsall Lane...
If there had have been any pedestrians nearby this smash would have ended on a much more serious note; it all begs the question about when LCC will act to make the junction safer; CCTV cameras might be a good start to catch errant drivers, along with this intiative by Merseyside Police that's caught thousands of 'amber gamblers': https://www.qlocal.co.uk/ormskirk/ne...l-55036689.htm
