• Troubled neo Nazi Jack Renshaw who plotted to kill West Lancs MP Rosie Cooper has been jailed for life and must serve a minimum term of 20 years.
  
  
  The 23-year-old from Skem. who admitted preparing an act of terror was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday.
  
  
  In June last year, Renshaw pleaded guilty to planning to kill Ms. Cooper and making a threat to kill police officer Victoria Henderson.
  
  
  After he was sentenced, Renshaw made a Nazi salute to supporters.
  
  
  He'd bought a 19in (48cm) Gladius knife as part of his plan to murder the MP but his plot was stopped when whistle-blower Robbie Mullen told Hope not Hate (an anti-racism charity) who subsequently informed police.
  
  
  The Old Bailey heard a victim impact statement from Ms Cooper where she described the threat as “something out of a horror movie.” - security was tightened at her Ormskirk offices after the incident.
  
  Victoria Henderson had been investigating Renshaw for grooming young boys for sex; he received a concurrent sentence of seven years' jail for this.
  
  
  In April last year, Renshaw was jailed for three years after he called for the genocide of Jewish people. Then last June he was handed a 16 months jail term for grooming two underage boys online.
  
  
  A jury has twice been unable to come to a verdict on charges that Renshaw was a member of the banned neo-Nazi group National Action.
  
  
  Sentencing Renshaw, Mrs Justice McGowan believed his wish was to 'replicate' the murder of Jo Cox and said: "Your perverted view of history and current politics has caused you to believe it right to demonise groups simply because they are different from you.
  
  
  "This is a case in which only a sentence of life imprisonment can meet the appalling seriousness of your offending."
  
  
  Following the sentencing Rosie Cooper said: “My deepest wish is that this case is the last occasion when any public servant, any politician, has their life threatened for simply doing their job.
  
  
  “I believe today justice has been served. Not for me personally, but for every MP and public servant, and for our democratic way of life which affords us the privilege of free speech, without fear of violent retribution.
  
  
  “I wish to thank Robbie Mullen whose bravery saved my life, the parliamentary authorities including the Parliamentary Liaison and Investigation Team, Lancashire Constabulary and Merseyside Police and the North West Counter Terrorism unit for keeping me safe.
  
  "Thanks also to my family, friends and constituents for all their kindness, hard work and support over the last two years.
  
  
  “Now the case has ended, I will not be making any further comment, and I look forward to focusing solely on my work on behalf of the people of West Lancashire as their MP.”
