Oddfellows members have raised much-needed ‘brass’ for the North West Air Ambulance.
A special charitable performance by touring national band, Oddfellows Brass, was hosted recently by two local branches, the Mersey Oddfellows and Southport and Ormskirk Oddfellows, to raise funds for the charity.
They raised a total of £755.64 which was presented as a cheque to the crew during a tour of Barton Airfield by members of the two Oddfellows branches.
Jennifer Barry, regional fundraiser for the NWAA said: “We’re extremely grateful to the local Oddfellows members who are working hard to raise awareness and support for the work that we do. Ensuring our helicopters, pilots, doctors and paramedics can provide top-quality treatment and access up to date equipment is of huge importance to the many communities throughout North West.”
Bonita Hesketh, secretary for the Southport and Ormskirk branch of the Oddfellows added: “Oddfellows Brass is an extremely talented group of musicians, and their concerts are always a huge hit with our members. To work with them and the Mersey Oddfellows in order to raise such a wonderful amount of money for the North West Air Ambulance charity was an absolute pleasure.”
Margaret Hughes, secretary for the Mersey branch continued: “We’re so pleased to have been able to raise money for such a valuable and much-loved service in the North West. We hope this donation goes a long way in helping them to continue the fantastic, life-saving service they provide.”
From coffee mornings and craft sessions to lunch clubs and guest talks, the Oddfellows holds regular events and activities across its 124 Branches across the UK; to find out more, visit oddfellows.co.uk.
