An Ormskirk street collection for Cancer Research UK as part of the World Cancer Day campaign raised £181.65.

The charity asked the nation to help support life-saving research on World Cancer Day, Tuesday 4 February, by donating and wearing one of the charity’s Unity Bands; the Unity Band is a wristband which symbolises solidarity with people diagnosed with cancer - one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lifetime.

The money raised in Ormskirk will help save more lives by funding research that will help to accelerate advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The good news is, thanks to research, more people are surviving than ever before. Survival has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of this progress.
