MP Rosie Cooper has received assurance from the Minister of State of State for Media and Data that the BBC will delay the introduction of the over 75 television licence fee until August in light of the current situation with regard to COVID-19.
This afternoon, she told QLocal: "With most over 75s advised to self isolate this is a very welcome measure to ensure that older residents can stay informed on Coronavirus updates and be a source of entertainment, company and connection with the outside world.
“I welcome the assurance from the Minister that the BBC have delayed the introduction of charging over 75s for the television licence and ensure this is one less worry for older people at this challenging time for everyone.”
