A novel approach to slowing traffic on Long Lane, Aughton has been suggested by a county councillor - involving some chicanery.
Paul Greenall attended Monday night's meeting of Aughton parish council, updating members on the continuing battle to lower speeds - and have them monitored, too.
According to the county council there have been too few incidents to warrant any serious traffic calming measures like speed bumps, with members backing a scheme to purchase two SAS (speed awareness signs) with their own downloadable data logging capability for the busy road to be sited near Aughton Park station and on the stretch where traffic approaches from Bickerstaffe.
Said Greenall: "Perhaps a better solution would be to ask residents to park their cars on Long Lane, not on their drives, to form a chicane effect."
"And what about my wing mirrors ?" asked one wag.
