It's hard enough getting most 16-year-olds out of bed - here's one young Ormskirk lad who's quite happy to stay in his bedroom all day!
How many musical careers started in a bedroom?
You’d be surprised if you knew the number of musical legends who 'hit' it off behind closed doors – people like Brian Wilson, Daniel Bedingfield and Billie Eilish to name a few.
One day we might be adding SVG, an Ormskirk teenager to that list: the 16-year-old has told QLocal’s Roger Blaxall about his love of electronic music - and how he hopes his career will hit some high notes in the future…
‘Since I was young, I’ve always had a fascination with music, and learnt to play the piano at an early age.
The first real EDM (Electronic Dance Music) experience I had was listening to songs by Avicii, which really inspired me to want to create my own!
On starting secondary school, music classes let us make our own songs which introduced me to the software Logic Pro X, and I'd try making EDM following inspiration from Avicii and Alan Walker.
Inspired by this, I wanted some similar software to make my own music with! I found FL Studio and immediately started trying to use it; to re-create the amazing EDM songs I’d heard, I started watching YouTube tutorials on ‘How to make music like Alan Walker’, which led me to start uploading some of the songs I’d been working on to YouTube, where I could share my very amateur attempts with others, receiving feedback on how I could improve.
I have been making EDM for just over two years now, and have some wonderful opportunities of working with other musicians and artists worldwide, including Senegal, USA and Norway.
I’ve also released my music on popular record labels, and hope to continue making music in the future!’
